Joe Addabbo

Joe’s first experience sailing was aboard a 63ft schooner owned by a friend’s dad. He can still remember that day standing in the wind stream between the jib and mainsail on a broad reach thinking “ I have to get one of these.”
After spending 2 years active duty in the US Navy Submarine Service he returned to the University of Maryland and built his first boat in 1970. It was a 16ft follboat (like a 3 person kayak). The over-powered 85 sq ft rig, made it more like sailing a log canoe, very tippy and extremely tender but a great ride.Sailing has been a part of his life every since. He moved to a Hobie 14 which he sailed across the Bay one day and ran out of wind out in the middle of the Bay, noting “ I have to get a bigger boat.” From the Hobie he moved to a Tartan 27, Cheoy Lee Offshore 33, Hunter 30 and currently, he has been diligently and lovingly restoring a 1970 Pearson 39, in which he takes great pleasure sailing.
His love of sailing and over 25 years of sales, management and consulting experience enable him to give professional service to his clients. In the past he has been first mate with a campaigned boat in the CBYRA and WRSC and is still active in the Wednesday night races at Pirates Cove on the West River. He has been a part-time day charter skipper and sailing instructor for the last four years, and Yacht Broker and Charter Broker for the past year and a half.
He brings a wealth of sailing and boat knowledge along with an easy going, congenial style. He truly enjoys people and helping them find the right boat for their needs.
