Scott joined Crusader Yacht Sales in 2008 to enjoy the benefits of newly available technology and the camaraderie of a seasoned yacht sales team.

Scott caught the boating bug early in life when his father introduced him to sailing a Hampton One Design on the upper reaches of the Chesapeake Bay while being raised in New Castle County Delaware. Scott attended Wilmington Friends School and Alexis I. DuPont High School. Since the 1970’s, Scott’s life and vocation has always been boat-centered. Today on a day off you will likely find Scott sailing with his family, putting in a day of Race Committee duty, combing boatyards for interesting listings, or spin casting for Rockfish from his kayak. Scott enjoys memberships with the Indian Landing Boat Club, Severn Sailing Association, and the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake.

In the 70’s and 80’s Scott apprenticed as a sail maker in Annapolis. He eventually worked as head sail designer for North Sails Chesapeake. This vocation led to sailing on a wide variety of sailing yachts and to sailing competitions nationally and internationally. In this time frame he met his wife Susan Dierdorff Taylor, former Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year and 470 Woman’s World Champion. Scott and Susan take tremendous pride in his two children Chandlee (currently attending Bryn Mawr College) and Peter.

Memorable sailing events include the Newport-Bermuda Race, legs of the SORC, numerous Snipe Nationals and the World Championship, and regattas in Norway, Spain, and Germany. Scott has cruised from Maine to the Eastern Caribbean.

Testimonials

“This is to express a wonderful experience that my wife, Kathy, and I had in finding and purchasing our latest boat, a Fleming 55 Pilot House Trawler.
As we live in San Diego and our interest was to purchase a boat on the east coast in order to enjoy the great cruising there, we were referred to Scott Taylor in Annapolis.

We made a number of trips to Annapolis as we have family in the area so Scott was very helpful in providing access to boats that we were possibly interested in purchasing. Over the course of a year or more, Scott was diligent in getting us into various vessels in the Chesapeake region.

Finally in June of 2006, Scott found a Fleming 55 that was located in Galesville and we fell in love with it. Scott was diligent in the negotiations and he provided great follow up for us.

We finalized the purchase and Scott lined up the right people to do the sea trials, settlement, haul out and other details as we had limited time in the area. Kathy and I have enjoyed our boat on the east coast and this year I took the boat back to San Diego through the Panama Canal over a three month, 6,000 mile cruise. The boat has held up magnificently and now we are enjoying it in San Diego with trips to Catalina and Mexico. We plan to head to the northwest and Alaska in a few years.

We have recommended Scott to some friends as we found our experience exceptional and we would certainly use Scott in the future if we had the occasion to look for another boat.” - H. P. “Sandy” Purdon

“I have known Scott Taylor for many years and have found him to be hardworking, knowledgeable and completely trustworthy. I have had 5 transactions with Scott both buying and selling. Scott has always sold my boats at an excellent price and been with me every step of the way during the acquisition of a new vessel. I would give Scott Taylor my highest recommendation.” - Thad L.
