1982 Gulfstar Center Cockpit
This is NOT Your 70's Gulfstar Sailboat
To quote a well known expert:
John Kretschmer " I'd say that the Gulfstar 44 is a better design than the Hylas 44. It's the boat everybody's looking for."
Designed by the experienced Vince Lazzara and son, looking at the 44 she creates conflicting emotions. Below the waterline her profile exudes "FAST". Her turn-of-the-bilge and lower CG due to an encapsulated lead keel says "BLUE WATER, SEA-KINDLY".
The 44's hull above the water line creates an emotional tug of war between the "Bath Tub with a mast" cruiser expectation vs this beautiful balance between the the raked bow for a fine entry to the swept overhanging reverse transom and the sweet tumblehome of her curves.
Unexpected emotions of Speed vs Sea Kindly motion, Beauty and balance of design vs the typical Bath Tub Center Cockpit Cruiser; then when going down below more emotions will build. You will experience a truly thought out interior layout with great headroom.
A tight but not small "U" designed galley, perfect for cooking meals underway with plenty of bracing for safety, not the standard in-line galley CC are known for. Great use of teak below with excellent joinery, your emotions say "Only from Taiwan" yet here is great quality from Gulfstar, a Florida company.
The emotional response to the Gulfstar 44 can go on and on for a lifetime. Speed, blue water kindly, grace of design and layout with quality of construction.
If your emotions are troubled when looking for a cruising center cockpit yacht the Gulfstar 44 is a MUST SEE. She will send your senses on a fun filled experience.
