DESCRIPTION

To design the Sun Odyssey 410, Jeanneau reached out long standing design partner Marc Lombard , who was assisted by Jean-Marc Piaton. Together, they delivered on the challenge of bringing the classic Jeanneau styling into a modern yacht. Like the 440 and 490, the Sun Odyssey 410 features a generous beam and walk-around deck, ensuring life on deck is comfortable and spacious, either under way or at anchor. Simple sail handling is ensured through the use of an integrated bow sprit, inboard winches, and recessed wells for controls.

The Lombard-designed, hard chine hull combined with a high aspect cathedral rig, ensure this boat delivers on its high performance aspirations. The fine entry wave piercing bow significantly reduces drag, while giving the boat a distinctive look. In addition, careful consideration has been put into weight distribution and balance in the sail plan, bringing a new level of performance to the Sun Odyssey line. Even the most competitive sailor will love the speed, responsiveness, and ease of handling while at the wheel.

In addition to higher performance than ever before, the Sun Odyssey generation deliver comfort like never before. The high volume hulls allow for bright, comfortable interiors. Like the Sun Odyssey 440 and 490, the 410 features a contemporary, central galley that is ultra-functional and with an abundance of storage. The central daybed, perfect for relaxation, is unique to the 410 and a key feature in this cozy saloon. A large, fully functional nav station to port provides for plenty of room for serious navigation as well as additional electronics.

The 410 can be configured in a 2-cabin or 3-cabin arrangement with queen size berths. It is available with either a single aft head or an additional head forward in the master cabin. Both heads offer separated shower compartments. Whether overnighting, entertaining, or day sailing, the Sun Odyssey 410 strikes the perfect balance between performance and comfort.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Once a sailboat reaches a length of 40 feet or so, it fits into the enviable position of a great all-around boat that can serve well a variety of roles. It is still manageable enough to be a stable and exciting daysailer, a great size for friends and family on the boat for a day of sailing fun. With a favorite anchorage for swimming and lunch, the boat has a comfortable head and interior, and guests never feel like they have to accommodate tight spaces.

The boat also is at the point where it can be cruised extensively as many boats of this size are everything a sailing traveler wants…and no more. And it also has the systems, layout, and accommodations for true liveaboard comfort with reasonable space for people, stores, clothes, and the other necessities of liveaboard life. It might be said that a 40-foot sailboat is the sweet spot of sailing.

The Sun Odyssey 410 is no different, as it satisfies its various roles with careful design, quality construction, and an overall comfort factor that has proven popular. One does not need to aspire to go bigger to reap the benefits of big-boat sailing. It does everything well enough just fine.

As many find after a brief time aboard, the 410 is ideal for a couple with plans to spend extended periods on the boat, it is also well suited for family cruising, is still manageable to be day sailed with friends, and is a perfect weekend retreat for quiet anchorages or busy urban marinas in popular destinations.

And best of all, Jeanneau offers the 410 with enough layout choices and optional gear to create a boat that does exactly what each owner desires. A sailboat for all reasons.

Like all Sun Odyssey models, the hull shape is a continued evolution of a modern interpretation of a performance, yet comfortable, family cruiser. It has the characteristic inverted bow whose forefoot stands proud of the waterline at rest, making the boat faster in light airs, while improving slows speed maneuvering. The wide beam is carried all the way aft to the stern, allowing for twin spade rudders and helms in each corner of the large cockpit. All running rigging, sheet winches, and lines are in the cockpit so they can be reached and managed by the helmsperson and crew without climbing around the cockpit.

The innovative walk around side decks are another key feature of this Sun Odyssey, and again, its size makes for spirited sailing because of its 36’7” waterline length, the full-length chine of the hull keeping the initial stability comfortably low. The Marc Lombard design embraces modern thinking about performance sailing on a cruising boat.

There are several variations offered for the Sun Odyssey 410. There are three keels to choose from, and interior layouts for two or three cabins with one or two heads. The systems, sailing gear, and interior finish choices are enough to satisfy any couple looking for that perfect sailboat. Trim packs provide varying levels of accessories, and there are numerous options of performance sails, downwind sailing systems and sails, and most common cruising essentials, some available as preselected packages. Numerous choices include anchoring and docking equipment, in-mast furling, self-tacking jib, Harken electric winches, adjustable backstay, and everything needed to equip one’s boat for speedy performance or more relaxed intense cruising ease.

To assist in understanding the systems, layouts, and other important options for your new Jeanneau, the brokers and staff at Crusader Yachts in Annapolis are ready to help in every way possible to ensure a couple’s satisfaction. Many of the key choices come down to deciding the right balance between functionality and performance, and Crusader’s experienced team are ideal partners for navigating this process. It is no surprise that Crusader Yachts is a leading Jeanneau dealer in the U.S.

Your Crusader broker can explain the benefits and tradeoffs of each of the equipment and build choices, particularly as they relate to the owners’ future planned use as they gain experience with the boat. Having the Crusader team convert one or more of the heads to fresh water may be a good idea for Chesapeake Bay sailing, and going for extra water tankage may be a better solution for local cruising than installing a watermaker for use in Chesapeake waters.

The Crusader team is also the best source for deciding on such things as exterior canvas, such as a dodger or bimini. Local canvas shops are a viable alternative to factory canvas options. The same is true for most all cruising gear one puts aboard. As it is the sailing capital of the country, every possible resource for marine products and fabrication is available in the greater Annapolis area. And Crusader has great relationships with all of the best vendors in town.

Standard power o the Sun Odyssey 410 is a 40hp Yanmar diesel engine shaft drive with a fixed three-blade propeller. Options include an upgraded 45hp diesel as well as an efficient, folding Flexofold propeller. A fuel capacity of 53 USG provides all the range necessary for extended, self-sufficient cruising in Chesapeake Bay and beyond.

When the two-cabin boat is selected, the aft port-side space is finished as a sail locker, workshop, or general storage. Access into this space is behind the chart table, as well as from the port-side cockpit locker. The workshop can be wired and plumbed for the addition

of a washing machine, as well as additional freezer and refrigerator equipment to add functionality to the standard galley equipment.

The Sun Odyssey 410 is a great performance cruising sailboat, and Crusader Yachts and Jeanneau stand behind the boat for all warranty and other necessary work. The boat can provide years of outstanding fun and sailing pleasure however one plans to use the boat. And the layouts and outfitting directions can tailor each boat to the specific needs of its owners. Perhaps best of all, once a member of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey family, the builder and dealer want to make sure you get the best use out of your boat. And when it is time to go up or down in size, they stand ready to help make that transition one of lasting pleasure.

Come by the Crusader offices in Annapolis and check out the Sun Odyssey 410. The Crusader team will be happy to show the boat to you and discuss some of the advantages of the many layouts and other build possibilities. There is no doubt at least one version of the boat that is a good match of performance, ease of use, and sailing pleasure, with the right accommodations layout and trim.

The Sun Odyssey 410. Jeanneau builds the boat, Crusader Yachts fits it to your plans. Together they offer you a sailing experience whose memory will linger long after the boat is back in her slip, the kids back home, and the weekend is done.

Memories for a lifetime, one voyage at a time.
