Memories is a 2001 Beneteau Oceanis 361 designed by Jean Berret and Olivier Racoupeau, with results to back up the sail plan. In 2022 Memories won the Spinnaker Division at theGovernor’s Cup overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay, then came back in 2024 to finish second. Every line is led aft to the cockpit, the mainsail is in mast furling, and both the primary and cabin top winches are self tailing, so one person can reef, tack, and douse sail without leaving the wheel. The Neil Pryde genoa and mainsail are maintained by Quantum Sails, andthe Doyle asymmetrical spinnaker is easier to fly and douse than a symmetrical chute, an advantage in the light air common on the Bay.
The owner has kept ahead of the maintenance rather than behind it. Engine hours are low, with regular impeller changes, fluid changes, and filter service, a new fuel pump in 2023, and a dedicated Racor fuel filter. A Gori folding propeller went on in 2024, adding speed, fuel savings, and better control in reverse for docking, and in 2025 the boat was hauled to replace the shaft seal diaphragm and refresh the bottom paint.
